How does the use of creeds affect the unity of the church?

The church is to contend earnestly for the faith – the truth of God’s word. How do creeds help us to do that?
Friday – I Kings 18:20-40; John 18:12-24
We are to teach the truth publicly and openly. Do we need creeds to do that? Why not just the Bible?
