Joy Unspeakable
Finding Joy in Christ-like Suffering
For much of the world, the past year has been one in which suffering has become ubiquitous. In the midst of the darkness many are enduring, is there a way to have joy? The message of the Bible is a resounding, “Yes!”
In this fallen world, Christians often suffer due to no fault of their own. A loving spouse may suffer the pains of marital unfaithfulness, or loving Christian parents may suffer the loss of their child. Yet through this weekend Dr. Lee will show how we can overcome the pain and instead experience a “joy unspeakable” (1 Peter 1:8).
More specifically, we will explore how experiencing righteous suffering is to “fellowship with Christ in his sufferings” (1 Peter 4:13). Of course Christ-followers desire to know the glory of Christ, but that is only half of what he experienced. Unless we know Jesus’ suffering, we will never know the whole Jesus. And to know Jesus is the greatest joy of a believer, a “joy unspeakable.”
