July 17, 2011 – Morning Worship

Monday Judges 6; Luke 3:1-18
How do we see God preparing Israel for deliverance in Judges 6? How does this apply to us?

Tuesday Judges 6:1; Deuteronomy 28; Hebrew 12:5-11
Israel should not have been surprised that they suffered for disobedience and covenant breaking. How can we apply this?

Wednesday Judges 6:1-10; 2 Samuel 12:1-15; Psalm 119:1-16; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; Hebrews 4:12
In Judges 6:1-10 we see Israel crying out for deliverance and God sending a prophet to proclaim His word before the deliverer is sent. Why do you think He did that? What can we learn from this?

Thursday Judges 6:10-14; Psalm 103:1-13; Romans 5:6-11
Judges 6:10 would usually be followed by a “therefore I will bring judgment” sentence. Here it’s followed by a call to Gideon to deliver Israel. What does this tell us about God’s grace?

Friday Judges 6:12, 13; Psalm 73; Malachi 1:2; Matthew 11:1-3
What is Gideon’s problem with God’s promise in Judges 6:12 (i.e. his question in 6:13)? Others have had the same question – i.e. as we see in these passages. What is the answer to Gideon’s question?

Saturday 1 Kings 18; Matthew 6:19-24
Why does God insist that we can’t serve two masters? How does that apply to us as Christians?
