S.A. FIX – June 4, 2017 (MORNING WORSHIP)

Having shown in technicolor what the hope of the exiled people of God would be, namely the presence of a perfect shepherd-king (Ezek. 34), a place of perfect fruitfulness (Ezekiel 35-36), and a people perfectly renewed and filled with God’s peace by the Spirit (Ezekiel 37), God looks ahead to the final battle at the end of this present evil age. In Ezekiel 38-39 God assures his people that when they are raised to new life and filled with his Spirit, they will find perfect safety in his presence, as he will be their almighty, divine warrior who assures his people of perfect, perpetual protection. We see this in the spitefulness of the forces of sin and evil in the world represented by “Gog,” the sovereignty God displays in his defeat of Gog, and the lasting serenity God assures he will maintain for his people.
