July 7, 2013 – Morning Worship
Monday – Numbers 32; Luke 16
Why was Moses concerned about Reuben and Gad’s request here? How does it show the danger of possessions?
How were the Reubenites and Gadites being “ruled” by their possessions? How are you tempted to serve riches?
Why did Moses accuse the “brood of sinful men” (v. 14) of following selfish desires for comfort (vv. 5–6) and appearances instead of faith? In what ways do the desires of our eyes and flesh tempt us to unbelief?
Thursday – Numbers 32:16–32; Joshua 4 (esp. v. 12)
How does this second generation of Reubenites and Gadites differ from the first (e.g. Num. 13–14)? What does their vow and fulfillment of it show about their faith?
Friday – Numbers 32:33–42; Psalm 37
How does God’s provision of these places east of the Jordan show his lavish generosity to his people?
How do we find Jesus Christ to be the answer to our temptation to disbelieve God and follow our desires for comfort and wealth in this life?
